The Horse Experience

Riding lesson | 15,000 ISK (approx. $110)

Enjoy a 45-minute riding lesson with a member of Team Hallkelsstadahlid (currently 3 internationally certified trainers). Price includes horse and tack.

Riding Tour | 12,000 ISK (Approx. $90) per person, minimum 2 people

Enjoy a ride around the farm (must have a riding lesson first to ensure safety. All riders must wear long pants, helmets and shoes with a heel.

Picnic lunch at the old stable | 7500 ISK (Approx. $55 per person)

Add a stop at the remains of the original riding stable. Team Hallkelsstadahlid will bring a picnic lunch. The horses in the mountain will likely come join you!

Meet the Icelandic horse | 7,500 ISK (Approx. $55) per person, minimum 2 people

A member of Team Hallkellsstadahlid will meet you in the riding hall where you will hear the history of the Icelandic horse and see a demonstration of its unique gaits.

Tour of the Horse Stable | 4,000 ISK (Approx. $30)

Young Horse Training | 7,500 ISK (Approx. $55) per person, minimum 2 people

A member of Team Hallkellsstadahlid will show you how the young horses are started.

Mare & Foal Visit | 7,500 ISK (Approx. $55) per person, minimum 2 people

A member of Team Hallkellsstadahlid will drive you to the mountain for an up close and personal visit with our breeding mares and their foals (available June-August).

The Sheep Experience

Tour of the sheep stable | 4,000 ISK (Approx. $30) per person, minimum 2 people

A member of Team Hallkellsstadahlid will give you a personal tour of the sheep stable (available from November – April)

Sheep visit in the mountain | 7,500 ISK (Approx. $55) per person, minimum 2 people

A member of Team Hallkellsstadahlid will drive you to the mountain for an up close and personal visit with our grazing sheep (available June – August)

Learn to shear a sheep | 20,000 ISK (Approx. $150)

Have a private lesson on how to shear a sheep (available Nov./Feb./Mar.)

The Fishing Experience

10,000 ISK (Approx. $75)

Catch and keep your own trout for dinner in our beautiful lake Hlidarvatn, includes equipment and license)

The Hiking Experience

FREE with camping or cottage

Enjoy exploring the cliffs around the farm. Please do not approach the animals or enter the farm buildings.

The Northern Lights Experience

FREE with camping or cottage

Hallkelsstadahlid is a spectacular place to view the Northern Lights (seen Oct-Mar. between the hours of 10 pm and 1 am.) You should try on a clear night when there is low moonlight.
